About the Item

Striking vintage early Americal Studio Glass Movement vase features pulled feather design, a variation of art glass decor from Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles, in yellow, mocha brown, and cobalt blue colors on clear background. The vase is signed and dated on the bottom. The Rochester Folk Art Guild was founded in 1957 under the guidance of Louise March (1900-1987), a student of the philosopher G. I. Gurdjieff. The Guild moved to East Hill Farm in Middlesex, NY in 1967. Traditional craft studios, sustainable agriculture, orchards, gardens and homes for community members were established in the 1970s. The artists and craftsman included ceramic artists, glass artists, woodworkers, textile artists, and graphic artists, creating a unique artisanal and farming community, located just east of Canandaigua Lake in Fingerlake Region of New York state. The art glass studio was founded in early 1970s. The Guild's Glass Studio reflected the broader trend of individual glass artists, with prominent glass artists working there, such as Bill Glasner, whose work has appeared on three continents, at museums such as the Smithsonian, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Musée des Arts Décoratif in Paris, and is also part of the permanent collection at the Corning Museum of Glass. The elegant, sculptural form, high quality craftsmanship, and traditional Art Nouveau style will make the vase a great gift to a collector or a design enthusiast and a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Eclectic, Transitional, Modern Country, Organic Modern, Collected, or Contemporary.
