About the Item

I designed these vases thinking about the flowers in their original Habitat in mind. What can be a better “container” than their own roots, the means by which nourishment and water gets to the petals and leaves?” The root vases are ambivalent objects that combine simple lines with an iconic shape. An outer clear glass cylinder is joined with an internal element in colored glass which represents the roots of a flower. These objects are made in blown borosilicate glass, and can be used as decorative flower pots in two directions; on the first side as an one flower-vase and for group of flowers of the other side. After studying mechanical engineering in Modena, Giorgio Bonaguro completed his training with a double masters in Industrial and interior design from the Polytechnic Design School in Milan. He has worked with various studios, such as Amdl (Michele De Lucchi) or MarCo Romanelli, where he learned the process of developing a product. He continues his personal research and collaboration with other studios and companies in various fields, including furniture, Industrial, interiors, packaging and light design. His clients include Driade, Valsecchi 1918, La Lampe, Mint Gallery London, and Galleria Luisa Delle Piane.

"An elegant blown glass vase with amber color decorations, Albaret is perfect for a flower bouquet and is extremely joyful as a glacette. Borek Sipek (1949-2016) studied interior design at the school for Arts and Crafts in Prague from 1964-1968. He went to Germany to study architecture at the Kunsthochschule in Hamburg. He also studied aesthetics and philosophy. His fateful encounter with Driade resulted in furniture and objects. The ideas eventually found their way into the Eidos, Malastrana and Follies Collections. Sipek's systematic revisitations of traditional craft techniques and materials have won several prestigious awards including, the Croix Chevalier Dans L'ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres from the French Government in 1991. In 1993, he won the Prins Bernard Fons Prize for architecture and arts. Sipek has an international reputation as an imaginative and versatile artist.
