About the Item

Vase 'Forme Ruhlmann 1'. Important balustre vase with a flat shoulder resting on a small pedestal, featuring a ring-shaped neck. A porcelain piece decorated with oven-fired gold stars on a dark blue background. Marked 'S 1925 DN', the black date stamp of the manufacture under the base. This vase was designed by Ruhlmann for the Sèvres Manufacture, where it was made. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity. Bibliography: Laurent Guelfucci, ‘Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann’, Galerie Guelfucci, Paris/Berlin, 2025.
