About the Item

Carl-Harry Stålhane, unique hand decorated Scandinavian modern vase, executed by Rörstrand, signed and dated 1943. A fantastic theme with boat, flowers, birds and gigant fish. Signed on bottom made at the Rörstrand in 1943. Carl-Harry Stålhane (1920-1990) was born in the town of Mariestad, in the west of Sweden. As a child, he dreamed of being a successful painter. He started working for Rorstrand in neighboring Lidkoping at the age of 18.. He is best known for his work in ceramics and for being one of the leading designers at Gustavsbergs Porslinsfabrik during the 20th century. Stålhane began working for Gustavsberg in 1939 and quickly became an integral part of the company's creative team. He explored various techniques and created many innovative and timeless ceramic designs. His style often features clean lines, simple shapes, and harmonious colors. Stålhane had a knack for creating ceramic objects that were both functional and artistically valuable. Throughout his career, Stålhane produced many award-winning works, and his ceramics are sought after by collectors around the world. His contributions to Swedish ceramic history and design are extensive, and he is regarded as one of the most influential designers in Swedish ceramics during the 20th century.
