About the Item
The black Cryopas Flowerball vase, designed in 1934 by Harald Elof Notini for Böhlmarks and produced by Pukeberg's Glass Factory, stands as a sublime functionalist piece in opaque glass. Notini's 'Flowerball' in Cryopas glass boasts a hammered texture and embodies clean lines, seamlessly blending form and function. Crafted for Pukeberg Glass, renowned for its craftsmanship, the vase epitomizes the timeless allure of Swedish glassware. The use of Cryopas glass, a version of opaline glass which was completely opaque, began at Pukeberg in 1931. Its sleek silhouette and intricate craftsmanship elevate it as a standout piece in any early Art Deco design collection.
The hammered surface of the vase is characterized by an organic, tactile feel. The shape was modernist for its time with its sleek and decorative expression. It pairs perfectly with a Dutch lavish overflowing Tulipa gesneriana, which can beautifully unfold over the black glass with its restrained design language.
