Hedberg spent much of his working life in Biot, near Vallauris, in the south of France. Picasso, Léger and Cocteau visited his studio; Chagall was a student. Hedberg produced a wide body of work, but is most well-known for his large sculptures of fruit, particularly large pumpkins and eggs with beautiful natural mottled glazes. A museum dedicated to him was opened in 1998 in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden.
