About the Item

This is a tall striking four sided vase by the renowned modernist German ceramicist Schuerich in stunning "fat lava" bottle green glaze with deep 5mm carved circular patterns to all sides and this rimmed round neck Alois Scheurich established his own ceramics factory in Kleinheubach in 1954. The Scheurich company became one of the largest manufacturers of ceramics in Germany from the 1950s to the 1980s. They exported more than any other ceramic company in Germany. The Fat Lava description that is often used, but frequently misunderstood refers to the type of glaze, not the vase itself. Fat Lava describes the thick colour glaze that often appears to be flowing down a vase. On this example the glaze is stunning bottle green and mottled all over the surface The vase still has its original Scheurich sticker to the stem as shown in photos and on the base bears the numbers 282 - 53, the 282 refers to the pattern and the 53 to the height in centimetres The vase is presented for sale in exceptional condition with no chips or crack and water tight and weighs 3.45KG/ 7.6Lbs
