During her childhood in Egypt, Johanna loved the clay vases holding cool water she saw in the streets of Cairo, nurturing her deep appreciation of vases as expressions of art and craftsmanship as old as humanity itself. Adorned with ornaments, these vases trace their origins to the dawn of human expression. Among the earliest artifacts ever created, vases remain one of the most cherished forms in our lives today. Founded in 2022 in Berlin, our distinctive collections are handcrafted in collaboration with small studios in the region honoring the artisans who uphold the local rich glassmaking heritage. Moonarij‘s vases are Johanna’s personal tribute to the enduring artistry and cultural significance of vessels. Each vase is a great keeper. Of flowers, of trinkets, of your treasures.
