About the Item

Tomaso Buzzi for Venini Vase in Light Blue and Lattimo Glass ca. 1933 A light blue Venini vase with lattimo glass rim and base. Designed by Tomaso Buzzi for Venini ca. 1933. Venini model number 3570. On the base with vintage company lable. A very rare example of Buzzi's famous designs for Venini. Tomaso Buzzi (1900-1981) was one of the Italian star architects of the 20th century. As a friend of Gio Ponti he participated in the creation of the Domus magazine in the late 1920s. Buzzi was very interrested in applied arts and thus worked as a designer for Venini in the 1930s. Many of his works for Venini were inspired by ancient art. They call him as Venini´s little hero. He explored the cased incamiciato glass with great passion and developed some of the most iconic Venini glasses with the Alba, Laguna and Alga series. As Venini started producing lightning systems in the 1930 some of them were designed by Tomaso Buzzi. The lighting of the Milan Stock Exchange building was also created from his designs. artfour is an owner-managed trading company dealing with fancy pieces of Murano and Scandinavian art glass.
