About the Item

Set of three “Gulvvase” glass vases designed by Otto Brauer for Holmegaard, Denmark, 1960s. This sculptural trio includes two matching blue vases (17 in / 43 cm) and one olive-green vase (11¾ in / 30 cm), each a striking example of mid-century Scandinavian glass artistry. Mouth-blown in richly pigmented glass, these vases reveal the subtle tonal depth and fluidity characteristic of Holmegaard’s finest work. The blue pair, identical in size and hue, display a deep aquamarine tone that shifts between teal and cobalt under changing light. The green vase, from the original color range, adds a natural, grounding contrast—together, the group creates a perfectly balanced composition of form and color. Each piece features Brauer’s signature bottle silhouette: a rounded body, slender neck, and flared lip, designed for graceful proportion whether used singly or in ensemble. Their luminous, hand-blown surfaces show faint bubbles and natural variations—hallmarks of authentic studio production and prized by collectors. The “Gulvvase” (literally “floor vase”) remains one of Otto Brauer’s most iconic designs, celebrated for its purity of line and modern sculptural presence. These examples are ideal for display on consoles, low tables, or the floor, where their color and scale can anchor a room with quiet drama. Dimensions: Blue vases: 4 in. (10 cm) diameter × 17 in. (43 cm) height (each) Green vase: 4.5 in. (11.5 cm) diameter × 11.75 in. (30 cm) height Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No cracks, chips, or structural damage. Minimal surface wear consistent with age. Provenance: Holmegaard Glassworks, Denmark, 1960s. Note: Listing is for the three vases shown. Other pictured objects are not included.
