A striking and highly sculptural “Twisted Tornado” flower vase, by Lisa Mori, Italy, 1980s.
This modernist objet d’art merges a sensuous, vortex-like cast-aluminum form with a pristine architectural frame in thick, edge-polished glass — a compelling dialogue between fluidity and geometry.
The aluminum body twists elegantly, as if suspended mid-motion, its silhouette recalling a cyclone or a ribbon caught in perpetual rotation. Resting on the upper glass plate, the organic mouth of the vase opens like a petal or an eye, creating a dramatic entry point for a single long stem or a minimal floral composition.
The transparent glass enclosure heightens the sense of levitation: the metal core appears to float within a crystalline volume, shifting character as light moves through the piece. Whether placed on a console, dining table or pedestal, it performs as both functional vase and sculptural focal point.
