About the Item

Hand-blown decorative vase, produced in Murano, Italy, by Vetreria Maestri Muranesi, circa 1980s. This piece is made of white opaline glass, shaped into a balanced ovoid form, with a narrow flat base and a slightly tapering neck. On both sides of the body, a series of hot-applied red glass elements creates a sculptural and organic decoration. These applied forms feature subtle tonal variations and an irregular, naturalistic contour, suggesting coral or vegetal motifs. The red applications stand out vividly against the matte opaline surface, adding depth and dimension to the otherwise minimal silhouette. The design is a clear homage to the modernist aesthetic introduced in Murano during the 1930s by Napoleone Martinuzzi, particularly in the use of opaline lattimo glass combined with bold applied decoration. This interpretation, however, belongs to a later period and reflects the decorative trends of the late 20th century. The vase retains its original adhesive label reading “Vetreria Maestri Muranesi – Made in Murano Italy”, confirming its origin and authenticity.
