About the Item
Covered with bold flowers in full bloom, and glazed in an unusual palette of periwinkle, navy blue, gold and sky blue, this ovoid-form Art Deco vase was made by the famed Longwy ceramic company in France. Longwy was established towards the end of the 17th century in a Carmelite convent in the Meurthe et Moselle region of France near where France, Luxembourg and Belgium meet. The founders developed lines of earthenware decorated with enamel in the style of cloisonné, often in bold, brilliant colors as here.
