Superb large handmade vase with this artist's signature designs, in the highly decorative Vallauris style.
Jean de Lespinasse (1896–1979) was a French ceramist who settled in Nice after World War II. His studio, founded with his wife, produced pieces signed J d L, recognizable by their sculptural forms and engraved or colored decorations. With his unique work, Jean de Lespinasse is now highly regarded by collectors and is part of this movement of post-war French ceramists, along with Roger Capron and Robert Paul, who built their reputations in the Vallauris or Saint-Paul de Vence studios.
