About the Item

Vase by Gallé Emile Gallé (1846-1904) was a French artist, designer, and entrepreneur known for his unique glassworks and furniture in the Art Nouveau style. Gallé was born in Nancy, France, and grew up in a family of glassblowers. He studied at the École de Nancy, an art school focused on promoting applied arts and crafts. There, he also met other artists and designers with whom he would later collaborate. Gallé became a master of glassblowing and the art of engraving and etching glass. He developed a technique called “Kamelefloge,” in which he layered different colors of glass to create an image or pattern. His works were often inspired by nature, particularly flowers and plants, and often displayed subtle shades of color. In the 1890s, Gallé founded his own company, the “Atelier Gallé,” which specialized in producing glassworks and furniture in the Art Nouveau style. He worked closely with other artists, including the ceramicist Ernest Bussière and the metal sculptor Louis Majorelle, to create unique and exquisite pieces. Emile Gallé Gallé’s work was exhibited internationally and received numerous awards and recognitions. His legacy as one of the leading artists of the Art Nouveau and Jugendstil movements is still highly regarded and admired today. The signed vase “Water Lilies” was designed and produced by Emile Gallé. Gallé was a well-known French artist of the Art Nouveau style, known for his glazed ceramic works and innovative glass-cutting techniques. The vase is adorned with a beautiful depiction of water lilies, held in various shades of blue, green, and yellow. The flowers and leaves are delicately and intricately shaped, giving the vase a graceful and organic appearance. Emile Gallé’s signature is engraved near the bottom of the vase, ensuring that this work of art can be recognized as an authentic piece by the artist. The “Water Lilies” vase is a beautiful example of Gallé’s talent and his passion for nature, which he expressed in many of his works. It is a sought-after collector’s item and is appreciated by art lovers all over the world.
