About the Item
Stig Lindberg Vase for Gustavsberg, Sweden
An elegant ceramic vase designed by Stig Lindberg (1916–1982) for Gustavsberg, Sweden, dated and signed on the base. This piece belongs to the designer's mature creative period, when he experimented with elongated forms and graphic decorations of meticulous craftsmanship.
The vase features a slender, slightly conical silhouette, decorated with a geometric pattern of fine vertical lines and horizontal bands in shades of mustard yellow, black, and white, carefully hand-painted under the glaze. Its balance between restraint and visual rhythm is characteristic of mid-century Scandinavian modern style.
Made of glazed faience, it retains the Gustavsberg mark of an open hand in blue, along with the artist's initials and the model number. The base has an original hole, designed for its potential use as a lamp base, a common practice at the time for adapting these decorative pieces to custom light fixtures.
