Un vaso in gres porcellanato smaltato unisce la resistenza e la durevolezza del gres alla bellezza e alla varietà estetica offerte dalla smaltatura superficiale.
Il gres, essendo un materiale ceramico cotto a temperature molto elevate (oltre 1200 °C), acquisisce proprietà eccezionali. E' quasi completamente non poroso. Ciò significa che assorbe pochissima acqua. L'acqua non penetra nella struttura, quindi non c'è il rischio di congelamento e rottura del vaso in inverno. Perfetto per l'uso esterno. Lo strato di smalto sigilla ulteriormente la superficie, rendendo il vaso altamente resistente alle macchie (terra, calcare, residui di fertilizzanti) e facile da pulire. E' più robusto della terracotta o della ceramica standard.
