About the Item
This vase takes shape from white earthenware, shaped through slow, entirely manual processing, in which the clay is colored into a paste by the direct addition of powdered ceramic pigments. The pigments, kneaded by hand into the raw clay, gradually melt into the material, becoming an integral part of its structure and giving rise to a deep and layered color composition.
The color palette, dominated by shades of turquoise, is enriched with variations of terracotta and blue, which emerge as traces of an ever-changing mineral landscape. The overall effect arises from the superimposition of colored layers, built up over time and gesture, and the subsequent fresh etching of the surface, which passes through the material while it is still alive, leaving subtle, rhythmic marks. These incisions interrupt and reveal the underlying layers, generating a dynamic dialogue between color, form, and depth.
The surface, finished with a glossy glaze, reflects light smoothly, amplifying the vibration of colors and returning a changing visual perception depending on the point of observation. The glossiness of the glaze contrasts and at the same time accompanies the chromatic complexity of the mixture, accentuating its three-dimensionality.
Fired at a medium temperature, the vase preserves the balance between material strength and chromatic delicacy, presenting itself as an object that combines technical rigor and poetic sensitivity, capable of dialoguing silently with the space that hosts it.
