About the Item

This vase is made entirely by hand of gray stoneware, enriched with fine-grained black chamotte that gives the surface a slightly rough appearance, vivid to the touch and authentic in its materiality. Construction is done using the columbine technique, in which each layer of clay is carefully overlaid and shaped, allowing the craftsman's hand to converse with the material and imprint its own rhythm and sensibility on it. The vase undergoes a double firing: the first, at medium temperature, stabilizes the shape and allows the material to consolidate; the second, at high temperature, occurs after glazing and gives the stoneware extraordinary firmness, superior mechanical strength and durability. This final stage generates a vitrified surface that is smooth and resistant to scratches, stains and chemicals, transforming the natural solidity of stoneware into an object of great technical and aesthetic refinement. The glaze finish, in deep green/blue tones, allows a glimpse of the underlying stoneware, creating an interplay of transparency and shading that accentuates the vase's three-dimensionality and depth. The light passing through it reveals delicate color variations, enhancing the irregularities of the surface and emphasizing the memory of the hand that shaped the material. The result is a vase that combines material strength, technical precision and visual elegance, conceived as a contemplative and decorative object, capable of dialoguing with the surrounding space and transforming observation into a sensory experience.
