About the Item
This ceramic vase was produced by Voorheen Amstelhoek in the early 20th century, dating to 1904-1910. The vase is finished in a distinctive blue glaze that is consistent with Amstelhoek glazing experiments from this period and closely comparable to the glaze used on the "Uiltjeskan" (1905) designed by Chris van der Hoef.
The vase has an elegant, elongated silhoutte with a narrow mouth and a gently widening body, resting on a stable foot. Its proportions and surface treatment reflect the transition from Arts
Crafts ideas toward early Dutch modern decorative design.
The vase is a strong and visually refined example of Amstelhoek ceramics, appealing to collectors of Dutch Arts
Crafts or works related to Chris van der Hoef.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The blue glaze shows subtle vertical flow marks from firing; the surface is entirely smooth and vitrified.
