About the Item

This exceptional stoneware vase was created by the renowned German master ceramicist Wendelin Stahl (1922–2000). The piece is signed on the underside with “G56/20” alongside Stahl’s signature. It was produced by the Wendelin Stahl Studio in Coraidelsheim, Germany, during the 1960s. A striking example of mid-century studio pottery, the vase features a sculptural minimalist form with a spherical base and tall, slightly conical neck. It is finished in a superb crystalline hare’s-fur glaze in variegated yellow and black tones, executed with remarkable precision. The hare’s-fur technique produces a refined, almost iridescent gradient effect, giving the surface depth and movement. The vase remains in very good vintage condition with no significant flaws, presenting beautifully and ready for display. Other ceramicists of the period include Berndt Friberg, Axel Salto, Wilhelm Kåge, Lucie Rie, Hans Cooper and Carl-Harry Stålhane
