About the Item

An exquisite art glass vessel by Yoichi Ohira signed Y. Ohira L. Serena 1995 Murano. Crafted in translucent emerald green glass with controlled air bubbles and red pasta type accents. This elegant vessle can be used as a vase, ewer/pitcher or as a standalone object d'art to enhance virtually any space with a fine elegant sophisticated flair. The controlled air bubbles is a technique known as bullicante. The glassmaking technique of bullicante has been used in Murano, Italy, and is characterized by trapped air bubbles within the glass, creating a distinct, textured appearance. The term, derived from the Italian word for boiling, bollicante, aptly describes the visual effect of the bubbles. This technique, popularized by Archimede Seguso in the 1930s, involves submerging molten glass into a mold with spikes, trapping air between layers, and then further manipulating the glass to achieve the desired bubble pattern.
