ABOUT Two available. Price per piece. A 1930's French HB Quimper ashtray with a design that reflects the Celtic heritage of Brittany in a geometric "Breton Broderie” pattern. CREATOR HB Quimper, France. DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1930. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Glazed Ceramic. CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. No chips. DIMENSIONS H 1.5 in. Diameter 5.5 in. HISTORY The "HB" stands for Hubaudière-Bousquet, one of the main factories in Quimper, France, which produced pottery in the 1930s. The factory marks during this time would typically include "HB Quimper". Quimper faience is a form of regional pottery from Brittany, a region in France with strong Celtic cultural roots and traditions. The designs, including the typical Breton figures and motifs, reflect this heritage.
