About the Item
French advertising ceramic ashtray or empty pocket for Cognac Monnet, France, circa 1970.
Since its founding in 1838, Monnet has been one of Cognac's historic names. Its leaders have often been innovators. The company's founder, Jean-Gabriel Monnet, rapidly expanded his business and built exceptionally large cellars in Cognac.
His son, Jean Monnet, was one of the founders of the European Union. This openness to the world further contributed to the renown of Monnet Cognacs.
Cognac is one of the ambassadors of French culture whose success continues unabated.
The fire-breathing salamander, the emblem of my Cognac Monnet house, still features prominently on the products marketed by this company.
Good condition, very little chips on the upper part of the salamander's mouth (please see photos).
