About the Item
A fabulous ashtray dating to around the 1970s, and also a striking decorative accent for your home today.
I can picture it used as a paperweight on a desk or displayed on a coffee table, evoking the form of an aquatic flower such as a lotus or a nuphar.
The craftsmanship recalls both the materials and techniques of the period, as well as the desire to faithfully reproduce natural forms—plants and animals—using metal alloys.
This beautiful vintage ashtray is made of fine pewter and has been recently polished with a specialized product to restore its silvery finish.
It still retains its original vintage adhesive label confirming its production in Savona, Italy, by a company called “VerArt.” The piece faithfully reproduces the model sold by the luxury brand Gucci.
Each petal of the flower can be easily removed from the center and used as an individual ashtray—perfect for an evening with multiple guests.
The piece is in good vintage condition: intact, with a lovely patina.
