I’m pleased to offer for sale a set of vintage cocktail ashtrays that combine functionality, fine craftsmanship, and striking decorative appeal.
Dating from the 1960s to the 1970s, these charming pieces allow each guest to smoke without the risk of leaving ashes or cigarette butts on the carpet or sofa—holding instead a petite ashtray no larger than a flower petal.
Crafted from silver-plated metal, this mid-20th-century ashtray takes the form of a large, stylized flower which, like a water lily floating on a pond, rests gracefully on your coffee table. From the pistil of this silvery bloom emerge six stamens that serve as cigarette holders, allowing guests to remove their cigarettes as needed.
Exceptionally functional, this 1970s ashtray set is also playful: each guest “plucks” a petal from the flower to take an individual ashtray, evoking the classic game “He loves me, he loves me not.”
Though unmarked and lacking any engraving to confirm its maker, this flower-shaped ashtray design was extremely popular in Italy during the mid-20th century, with luxury houses such as Gucci producing several versions.
The set appears to have seen little use, showing only minor signs of wear and light oxidation consistent with age.
