A rare and elegant mid-century modern ashtray designed by Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall, Sweden. This model showcases Ander’s signature combination of refined metalwork and sculptural glass elements. The ashtray features a slender brass stand with a clear geometric glass top, produced by the well-known Swedish glassworks Lindshammar Glasbruk.
The design reflects the functional yet decorative style typical of Scandinavian design in the 1950s–60s, where everyday objects were elevated into interior art pieces.
Gunnar Ander (1908–1976) is celebrated for his work in lighting and decorative objects, and pieces like this are sought after by collectors of Swedish modernism. The ashtray can also be used today as a small pedestal dish, candle holder, or sculptural décor element.
