About the Item
Pair of 1920s German Porcelain
Cork Bottle Stoppers
This charming pair of 1920s German porcelain bottle stoppers captures the humor and craftsmanship of the era. Featuring a jovial gentleman in a classic bowler hat and a cranky-looking lady adorned with a fancy hat and red earrings, these hand-painted figures are full of personality. Mounted on original cork bases, they were likely designed for wine or spirits bottles, adding character to the table or bar.
During the 1920s and 1930s, German porcelain manufacturers became known for producing highly detailed and expressive figural designs, particularly in the realm of novelty and character collectibles. These playful, exaggerated expressions were a hallmark of the period, often inspired by caricatures, theatrical characters, and everyday personalities. Many of these figures were crafted in Thuringia and Bavaria, regions renowned for their high-quality porcelain production.
Both stoppers remain in excellent condition, with only minor paint wear on the side of the man's bowler hat, which is typical for pieces of this age. Both figures have faint four-digit numbers on their backs—the woman’s is 7079, while the man’s is more difficult to read but appears to be 7078.

The decanter is finished in a soft mint green glaze, with intricate details that capture the whimsical essence of the era. The bellhop, dressed in a classic uniform, features an exaggerated expression of helpful contentment, embodying the playful yet sophisticated style of Art Deco character pieces.
The bellhop’s removable head serves as the top of the decanter, while he holds two shot glasses in his hands, with the other two cleverly nestled into his pockets. The set includes four shot glasses in coordinating pastel shades—green, blue, and pink. The bottom of the decanter is marked "Germany 1491," and each shot glass is marked "Germany 1."

Overall, the set is in good condition, with age-related wear consistent with its history. The glazing exhibits light crazing throughout, adding vintage character. The cork has become brittle and shows some loss. The green shot glass...

s German Art Deco Porcelain Half Doll
Located in Red Lion, PA
Stunning 1930s German Art Deco Porcelain Half Doll with Rococo Hairstyle
This exquisite 1930s German porcelain half doll captures the refined beauty and timeless glamour of the Art Deco period, paired with the romantic influence of 18th-century Rococo style. Rendered in fine porcelain with exceptional attention to detail, this rare figure is a striking example of German artistry at its peak.
Her delicate features are simply enchanting — bright blue eyes accented by soft blue eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, and vivid red lips, all hand-painted with precision. Her ornate updo evokes the powdered wigs of the 1700s, gathered high with an elegant bow at the back and a tiny tiara perched at the front, nodding to both historic elegance and theatrical flair.
What sets this figure apart is her graceful, outstretched arms, posed in a fluid and balletic gesture, capturing a moment of poised movement. It’s a pose both sculptural and expressive, and one rarely seen in typical half dolls. Her condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or signs of repair. Here delicately painted features remain vivid after nearly a century.
