Create an elegant bar area with this complete antique Cave à Liqueur, a refined example of Napoleon III period craftsmanship. Made in France circa 1870, this exquisite tantalus set features a serpentine-form box crafted from richly figured burl walnut, decorated with intricate marquetry inlay and a striking central brass cartouche framed in ebonized border. The hinged lid opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior.
Inside, a tiered stand holds a full complete liqueur service of four cut crystal decanters with faceted stoppers and sixteen matching cordials, all finely etched with delicate floral motifs. The shaped brass handle and turned supports enhance the elegance of the design, while the etched patterns and graceful silhouettes of the glassware reflect the luxurious aesthetic of 19th-century French tableware. Tantalus sets like this one were traditionally used to store and showcase fine spirits, offering both function and opulence in a single presentation.
