Amber Imprisoned Mexican Glass Brutalist Modern Tumblers by Filipe Derflingher

About the Item

Incredible set of 10 imprisoned glass Brutalist modern Mexican glass tumblers in amber recycled bottle glass caged by brass bands. Designed and made by Filipe Derflingher (sometimes spelled Derflinger) at the Feders workshop. They are in original vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or chiggers to the glass. The brass has a nice age patina. Please see photos, circa 1960s. Note: We do have an additional slightly different set of this bubble encased glass listed here in case you want more. Anything you drink from these tumblers will taste magnificently exotic! Even water! Just look at the way the amber blown glass oozes through the circles cut into the brass bands. These awesome Brutalist modern drinking glasses were handmade and designed by the famed Filipe Derflingher in the Mexico City Feders workshop circa 1960s. They are made by hand blowing molten glass from broken bottles into metal cylinders, so it bulges through the geometric openings cut into the metal. Derflingher’s work was well received by the design Community. Alexander Girard was so enamored he sourced them as the barware in the La Fonda del Sol restaurant in New York City, which was renowned for its groundbreaking design. This set will look amazing in your bar. You must make them yours!
