A fine Gilded Age American figural ice bucket.
By Ford
Tupper, the renowned 19th Century New York City silversmiths.
In the faux bois form of a handled bucket or barrel.
With a gilt washed interior
ice screen, stylized frost decoration to the rim, and 4 scroll feet.
With an 'HLF' monogram to one side.
Marked to the base for Ford
Tupper / 925 / Sterling.
Ford
Tupper served a high-end New York clientle and was active into the 1860s and 70s.
This ice bucket is simply a wonderful example of their high-level work!
