About the Item

This silver plated cocktail Shaker is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in England in circa 1935 in the period Art Deco style. The shape of the Shaker is comparable to a hand held school bell or that used by a Town Crier. The Shaker is quite heavy and well-constructed with very well machine threads on both ends of the handle. The top of the handle is threaded which when removed exposes the cork stopper for pouring, and likewise, the base of the handle is also threaded and has a built in strainer, and allows the 'bell' to be filled. This well made and novel shaped silver plated cocktail Shaker is fully functional and dates from a time when cocktails were enjoyed in local smoke filled jazz clubs and feathers and flapper dresses were the style.
