About the Item
A charming early 20th-century French match striker featuring a classic two-part construction of ribbed stoneware and a deep teal glazed ceramic base. The base is hand-lettered in gilt with “St. Hubert – Quinouart” and additional script, adding both regional character and an appealing decorative flourish.
The ribbed stoneware top provides natural striking texture, while the interior and rim are finished in a rich teal glaze with subtle wear to the gilt—consistent with age and use. A fine example of traditional French bistrot match strikers, collected today for their sculptural presence and graphic typography.
