About the Item

German Carved Oak Relief Plaque, 17th Century – “God Blesses the Wine” A wonderfully charming carved oak relief panel from Germany, dating to the 1600s. The plaque depicts a crowned woman holding a wine glass, accompanied by heraldic motifs and surrounded by grape cluster corner decorations — a celebration of viticulture and festivity. The inscription reads “Gott segne den Wein” (“God blesses the wine”), making it the perfect decorative piece for a wine cellar, dining room, or kitchen. Expected wear and surface patina are present (see photos), entirely consistent with its age and adding to its authentic 17th-century character. An evocative and rustic work of folk carving that combines charm, symbolism, and history in equal measure. Wear consistent with age and use
