This elegant English Mochaware mug, made around 1815, is decorated with both broad and narrow bands of slip in shades of light and midnight brown, alternating in precise rhythm around the cylindrical body. Between the darker and lighter slip bands are three fine rows of inlaid rouletting in geometric motifs, lending a sense of movement to the design. Made in England circa 1815 this mochaware pitcher is decorated with bands of lovely milk chocolate-colored slip. The color works beautifully with the unpainted creamware body of the handle and interior of the pitcher.
