About the Item

Hallmarked in London in 1988, this sterling silver and glass ice bucket was made by James W. Powell. The cylindrical glass body is topped with a broad silver mount, shaped in a jagged, icicle-like form. A swing handle is fitted to either side. At the base sits a removable sterling silver strainer, pierced with a stylised snowflake—subtly reinforcing the ice-themed design. Also included is a matching pair of silver ice tongs with clean, angular tips. The overall aesthetic is minimal, with crisp lines and a cool contrast between clear glass and polished silver. Though clearly contemporary, the detailing adds just enough character to elevate it beyond the purely functional. Late 20th-century sterling silver barware is relatively uncommon, and this example combines thoughtful design with fine materials. Suitable for both display and use, particularly in modern or design-forward settings. Dimensions: Bucket: H 7 in. (18 cm) × Diameter 6.5 in. (16.5 cm) Tongs: L 5.5 in. (14 cm)
