Dating to the Art Deco Period From our Decanter collection, we are pleased to offer this Rare Novelty Glass Tyre Decanter. The decanter of oval shape with a central hole formed in glass with a glass stopper. The decanter modelled as a tyre used as an advertising piece for India Super Tyres. The decanter is engraved ‘When Tyred, Scotch India Super Tyres’ a play on the word Tyre. India Super Tyres were a popular British brand of vehicle tyres in the early 1900s located in Inchinnan, Scotland. The decanter is a rare surviving piece of Novelty Advertising memorabilia perfect for any automotive collector looking for something rare and unusual. The Decanter dates to the first half of the 20th century during the Art Deco period circa 1930. India Super Tyres (SW and W Counties) Limited. Incorporated in 1930 and lived a short life in business dissolving in 1948. Within their short lifespan, the business made various enamel signs often featuring bright orange backgrounds with black text. This rare decanter is a result of the company’s forward thinking to attract new clients to their brand however, due to the little time they were in business branded automobilia like this piece are rare to come by.

The decanters of square form with canted corners featuring a quilted pattern to each face except the front which is engraved with a coat of arms with the words Aye Courage and writing reading Richard Comyns of Ludston.
