About the Item

Crafted in France circa 1860, this exquisite pair of Louis XV–style wine decanters blends hand-blown crystal with finely detailed silvered and parcel-gilt mounts. Each decanter features a graceful elongated neck above a rounded body, resting on an ornate base adorned with sculpted grapevines, berries, and curled foliate motifs typical of the Louis XV taste. The tall, scrolling handles rise elegantly to support hinged lids shaped with fluid, organic movement and finished with engraved palmette detailing. The silvered mounts retain a soft, time-worn patina that highlights the delicate gilding and the meticulous hand-chasing around the collar and base, creating a beautiful contrast with the luminous clarity of the crystal. Measuring 11 inches in height and 5.25 inches in diameter, the pair remains in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
