An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware. This exceptional antique sterling silver goblet has a circular Campania shaped form onto a knapped stem and domed circular foot. The body of this antique silver goblet is encompassed with exceptional and collectable chased decorated cricket scene, comprised of a gentleman propelling the ball towards the wicket defended by a batsman, all in a rural style background. The decoration to the body incorporates a scrolling leaf bordered shaped cartouche displaying the later engraved inscription 'Vulcan Institute Cricket Club, The Lermit Challenge Cup for Inter-Shop Competition, 1950. The lower bulbous portion of this Victorian goblet is embellished with further scrolling, floral and extended terrain ornamentation. The plain cylindrical pedestal features a circular fluted knop to the upper portion.
