About the Item
Here is a very handsome stopped Italian bottle or decanter in a rich, dark green textured glaze. We are quite sure this is Aldo Londi design for Bitossi. The piece retains its original wood stopper. The bottle and stopper are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or apparent repairs. A beautiful sculptural form that could be used as a functional piece or as a striking decorative accessory.
About Aldo Londi: Aldo Londi (1911–2003) was born in Montelupo Fiorentino. Londi lived a life devoted to art: he was a painter and sculptor, but above all, a ceramicist. For over fifty years, he collaborated with Bitossi, first as artistic director and later as a contributor. His expertise in ceramics and artistic sensitivity were his defining traits. Combined with a natural inclination for exploration, they allowed him to undertake bold experiments and shape a new expressive language.

1930s Napier Silver-Plate Cocktail Shaker Designed by Emil Schuelke
By Emil Schuelke
Located in Minneapolis, MN
Here is a hard-to-find modernist silver-plate cocktail shaker designer by Emil Schuelke in the mid-1930s and made by Napier Company of Meriden, Connecticut. The cone-shaped shaker consists of two pieces--the top can be used for measuring ingredients. This example is in good condition--there are no deep scratches or dents. There some silver losses on the body and top of the shaker and the inside strainer has loss as well. You can tell the shaker has been used--there is wear to the interior. We've included several photos which represent the condition well. But all in all, this shaker presents nicely and would make a great addition to any bar or cocktail shaker collection.
From Wikipedia: "Napier silver designs from the first half of the 20th century are in museum collections including the Brooklyn Museum, Newark Museum and a substantial collection at the Dallas Museum of Art. Over the years, Napier silver has been featured in museum exhibitions, including Modernism in American Silver: 20th Century Design at the Smithsonian in Washington, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Wolfsonian in Miami Beach, the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis, TN (2005–07). Napier designs have also been included in two shows at the Brooklyn Museum, entitled 19th century Modern (2011–12; 2013–15). In November 2016-November 2017, the iconic Napier penguin cocktail shaker...
