From our Decanter collection, we are delighted to offer this Mid-Century Modern Spanish Boars Head Pitcher by Valenti. The Pitcher of novelty form with large rounded glass decanter body mounted with a thick cast silver plated boars head showing detailed features with glass eyes with the handle of the pitcher formed as the tail of the boar. This pitcher is a slightly rarer model with a purple hue glass body which gives a lovely effect in the light. The pitcher is stamped by the maker Valenti, made in Spain and dates to the second half of the 20th century Mid-Century Modern circa 1960.
Valenti (1798-present) is a company in the high-range decoration industry with a long tradition and artisan roots base in Barcelona, Spain since 1798. Its products are influenced by the decorative arts and the renaissance of craftsmanship applied to modernity. Its designs are unique products, made with the attention and care of a silversmith, which are exclusive and loaded with sophistication. In the manufacture of the products, the last technologies and innovation serving the traditional handicraft techniques are combined and also the shapes and the finishing as well as the use of the first raw materials are cared for in detail.
However, Valentí, despite its two-century track is not a company which remains stuck in the past. Based on its experience, it challenges the future and reinvents itself every day to reach all the audiences, by creating new design lines which include the most classical pieces of furniture to the new vintage or contemporary lines, and in areas which are so different and complementary such as chairs, sofas, lighting, silversmithing, stoneware or furniture. With an international projection, looked after with detail and greatest care for 50 years, Valentí is present in cities like Rome, Paris, London, New York or Tokyo.
Silver Plate refers to a method of applying a thin layer of silver to a base metal such as brass. Therefore it refers to an item which is not solid silver but plated to the outer coating.
Mid-century Modern is a design movement in interior, product, graphic design, architecture, and urban development. It was popular in the United States and Europe roughly between 1945 and 1969. The term was defined as a design movement by Cara Greenberg in her 1984 book Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s and is now officially recognized by scholars and museums as a significant movement in design. Generally, the movement is characterised by clean and simple lines with the honest use of materials and it generally does not include decorative embellishments.
