About the Item

Unususual, Art Deco Period, sterling silver-mounted cocktail shaker, Birmingham, England, year-hallmarked for 1927, W&P - maker. The maker's mark was registered in 1930-31, and, as in many cases, silversmiths were allowed to use their own mark even if working for someone else. The shaker measures 9 inches high x 3 inches diameter at widest point. Glass has a cut diamond design. Incised star on underside. Sterling silver screen is removable. Underside of sterling silver stopper (stopper is unmarked, but tested) is engraved with the word EDRUE (see photos) - meaning Sober in Norwegian/Scandinavian. Dark areas in photos are reflections.
