About the Item
This sculptural Mid-20th-Century Modern bottle opener was found in Italy and purchased by us together with two similar pieces, each shaped like a different style of hat: one a Bowler/Derby hat and the other a Top Hat. All of the hat-shaped bottle openers are available on this website in our selection.
The bottle opener offered in this listing specifically features an equestrian decorative theme. It is cast in brass and later chrome-plated. It originally had a gilt wash, still visible on the underside, with small traces remaining on the upper part of the hat. Like a finely detailed miniature gentleman’s riding helmet, this bottle opener was carefully crafted in Italy between the 1960s and 1970s.
On the underside, it still retains the original adhesive label from a now-closed shop in Florence called “Vinattieri.” A fun and unconventional object, perfect as a Christmas gift.
It is in good vintage condition, showing minor signs of age and use visible in the photos and noted in the listing.
