About the Item
This sculptural Mid-20th-Century Modern bottle opener was found in Italy and purchased by us together with two similar pieces, each shaped like a different style of hat: one a Bowler/Derby and the other a riding helmet. All of the hat-shaped bottle openers are available in our selection on this website.
The bottle opener offered in this listing is the one shaped like an elegant top hat.
Cast in brass and later chrome-plated, it shows some wear—highlighted in the photos—where the underlying brass is visible beneath the silver-plated finish.
Dating from the 1960s–1970s, and thanks to the original adhesive label still present on one of the three bottle openers, we can be fairly certain that it was made in Italy and sold by a Florentine shop of the time called “Vinattieri.”
The piece is in good vintage condition, with light signs of age and use visible in the photos and noted in the listing.
