About the Item
This charming Jugendstil cork holder by WMF dates back to around 1900 and features the famous Wilhelm Busch characters Max and Moritz. Crafted from silver-plated metal and marked with the WMF ostrich hallmark, this rare piece combines playful storytelling with the refined design language of the Art Nouveau era. The rectangular base supports a circular handle and two removable cork stoppers, each topped with delightful sculptural figures of the mischievous duo. The silver plating has naturally aged over time, giving the piece an authentic patina that adds depth and historical charm. Upon request, the surface can be gently polished to restore its original shine. A true collector’s item for lovers of Jugendstil, German design history, and WMF’s exquisite craftsmanship — perfect for displaying on a bar, sideboard, or in a cabinet of curiosities.
