Antique Japanese Oribe Big Serving Bowl 1850s (Edo era)

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Japanese silver serving bowl; an addition to our Asian silverware collection. This exceptional Japanese silver serving bowl has a plain circular rounded form onto a plain circular swept, spreading foot. The body of this antique silver bowl is embellished with impressive engraved traditional oriental chrysanthemum floral and foliate designs. The decoration to the body incorporates gilded ornamentation to the centre of the flowers. We have a unique Japanese aesthetic sense. It is speculated that this pottery was fired in the Shodai kiln in Kumamoto Prefecture during the Edo period, around the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. Therefore, it will not leak even if you put water in it. It's not very noticeable so I wouldn't worry about it.
