Hallmarked in York in 1840 by James Barber
William North, this very rare, Victorian, Antique Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl, is plain in style, standing on four feet, and featuring scroll handles and a gilt interior. The sugar bowl measures 4.5"(11.5cm) tall, by 8.5"(21.5cm) from handle to handle, by 5.75"(14.5cm) deep and weighs 10.5 troy ounces.
Silverware hallmarked in York is rarely available, especially with good legible hallmarks. This is a lovely piece for anyone interested in provincial silverware.
Please note the city mark has been omitted from the hallmarks, which is common.
