Charming and sculptural silver-plated molcajete bowl designed and handcrafted by Los Castillo in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico, circa 1960s. This collectible piece beautifully embodies the workshop’s tradition of merging modernist form with whimsical natural motifs.
The bowl rests on three rounded feet and is fully hand-hammered, giving its surface a luminous, organic texture. Perched on the rim is a finely detailed toucan figure, crafted in black onyx and jasper stone inlay with a silver-plated beak and accents. The subtle articulation in the bird’s form reflects the mastery of Taxco silversmiths, capturing both elegance and playfulness in a single piece.
