About the Item

An exquisite Antique French Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted Chinese porcelain centerpiece. The finely crafted porcelain bowl, likely from the Qing dynasty, is richly enamel-painted with delicate domestic scenes depicting figures amidst a mountainous landscape adorned with pavilions and animals. Surrounding the bowl’s body is a lavish brocade-patterned gilding, punctuated by alternating reserves of vibrant red latticework borders and stylized cloud scrolls. The interior rim is gracefully encircled by a red diaper-pattern band beneath the gilt bronze mount. The centerpiece features a broad oval porcelain bowl elegantly set within an elaborate gilt bronze frame, showcasing intricate pierced foliate scrollwork around the rim. Two scrolling handles extend outward in an asymmetrical design of acanthus leaves and grapevines, enhancing the piece’s refined silhouette. The bowl is elevated on a circular gilt bronze base, supported by four winged putti seamlessly integrated into scrolling foliate supports that flow into a shaped plinth. The base is further enriched with a parquetry-patterned platform, ornate acanthus feet, and rococo-inspired embellishments.
