About the Item

An exceptional and very high quality French 19th century 1st Empire period ormolu centerpiece. The oblong shaped centerpiece is raised by handsome paw feet amidst scrolled foliate designs below a most decorative mottled wrap around Coeur de Rai band and wonderful foliate designs at the thick support. At the center are two exquisite richly chased dolphin supports in a superb satin and burnished finish with intricately detailed scales. Above is the pierced panier like designed top with a delicate wrap around berried laurel band and beautiful scrolled foliate designs with blooming flowers centering the original removable fitted insert.
